There are so many great rock problems and routes in the Southeast, it's a shame more people do not have the opportunity to sample them! Either lack of motivation, skill, or distance keeps them at bay. We are extremely fortunate in Chattanooga to have a plethora of amazing rock climbing opportunities at our doorstep. Thank God for southern sandstone!
Nothing will ever replace the feel of "real stone," but most of us can live without the humidity, heat, wettness, and cold that is characteristic of this region. Much more, every day responsibilities tend to get in the way of our pension for venturing out to the better rock climbing areas.
This is partially why we created the Tennessee Bouldering Authority (TBA) back in 2000. We created this indoor boulder garden to have a casual environment where climbers can congregate, share ideas and experiences, and unite to protect the access rights to our favorite rock climbing areas.
We wanted to present climbing in a way that does justice to what we love and respect so much about this sport and its culture! We also wanted to give people the tools to realize their own personal goals and push the limits of what they thought was possible in rock climbing. If you say you can, you are right.
